It's been a few months since I've done the Hop, hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books. Stop by and join the fun. It's a great way to meet other bloggers.
Each week she poses a question.
This week's question is:
"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"
My answer:
Yes, almost always. I have a love/hate relationship with book series. I really love the idea of them; waiting for the next one anxiously, developing with the same character, etc. But honestly, they are a lot of pressure. I really have enjoyed some first and second books in some series and then don't get to the rest and when I do think of them again, they are on like #9 and I have forgotten what happened in #1 and #2!! (total run on sentence...sorry!)
I like to start at the beginning but I am really starting to hate not being able to complete a series. Like this whole Dragon Tattoo book. Good lord, it's like 5000 pages long and there are 3 of them. 3!! Soon to be 4!!! That's a lot of pressure!!!! I mean, I can't just read one, can I? Can I?
(whew)
Sorry, I'm feeling a bit expressive tonight I guess. !
In realty, I have not read that many series. I have really tried to stop obsessing about all of the middle grade and young adult series that have multiplied over the last few years that I have not gotten to. For now, I am trying to stick to Sue Grafton, Victoria Laurie, Leslie Meier, and a few others that write slow enough to keep up with.
I haven't even read Mockingjay.
(shakes head)
I know.
sad.
presssssssssure.
Anyhoo, welcome to my blog, if you are new. I'm not normally this crazy. I hope you plan on coming back. (nervous laugh)

Hi Just hopping by.
Sue Grafton is great but it feels like forever between new books coming out, I wish she was a bit faster.

There's going to be a fourth book?! Wow!
I have to start with the first in a series too.

Hia,
I haven't read Mockingjay either. There are a few of us! I get what you mean about lots of books in a series getting confusing.
Same here....love series, but they can get quite weighty with the page load. I suppose it all boils down to your interest in the storyline and the characters....happy reading (series or otherwise)!
