Second, it's Stephen King. I haven't read anything by him in YEARS. Haven't really been interested in him either. I loved IT, The Shining, Skeleton's Crew and a few other stories along the way. Thanks to him, I am still scared of clowns, fog and semi trucks.
I wanted a grand story. Something different. Something rich. And folks I know said this was absolutely wonderful.
I am half way done, hence the Part 1 review. 15 discs in and I am riveted.
I love the whole concept of it all. Man gets sent on a time traveling mission to erase the bad of the past, most importantly the assassination of JFK. That's the base of the story but SO much else happens along the way. Jake (his present self) grows to be quite comfortable in his past self as George. The people he meets. The love he finds. The others he gets to save.
Though at times a little meandering, like typical King, it comes back around and you do see how each piece is part of a giant puzzle.
Anyone out there brave this one? Listen or read?
It only took me 2 weeks to get through the first half. I'm hoping the second half will go as quick!
Happy Reading (or listening) and as always, thanks for stopping by!

I keep hearing this is amazing but the size is so daunting. I love that you're breaking up your review. Fun idea. I can't wait for your final thoughts. Good luck.
So excited for your review! I purchased this from Audible, but am definitely intimidated by the length of the audiobook. What're you doing while listening? Cleaning? Driving? Walking? Sometimes your activity can help with your motivation to continue the book.
Usually I listen to audiobooks while I drive. During the fall I travel for work, so I drive around 140 hours. I purchased this book after my travel season, though, and don't want to wait for the next one.
Looking forward to your review part II!
I think I need to come to grips with the fact that I am not an audio person. I started listening to this and am not quite halfway through... but I haven't listened to it in a few months, and I actually started it much earlier this year, LOL. I'm considering just getting the book at the library so I can finish it! But I have to admit last time I started listening again, I had no idea what was happening!!
I had never read Stephen King before until 11/22/63 last year and it completely changed everything for me. I now host The Stephen King Project and I've read and listened to a number of his stories this year. I'm so glad you are enjoying it! The story caused me to make excuses to hide in a room and read away; I feel in absolute love with it.
